Porsche impounded after winning race with motorcycles on Island Highway
The 25-year-old BC driver behind the wheel of a high-end Porsche is out-of-pocket more than $2,500 after he was caught racing motorcycles on the Island Highway earlier this month.
The Qualicum Beach man also lost his Porsche 718 GT4 RS in the BC Highway Patrol stop near Hillview Road in Nanoose Bay, according to a BC Highway Patrol media release.
Police clocked the driver doing 144 km/h in a 90 zone, Sept 3. The car wound up in a police impound lot.
When you add up the fines, the tow and impound fees and the high-risk driver premiums for the next three year the total is more than $2,500.
“Had this driver showed a little restraint, it might have been the motorcycles that were ticketed and impounded,” Highway Patrol media relations officer Cpl. Michael McLaughlin said in the release.
“Instead, this driver raced straight into the hassle and lost opportunity of watching his expensive car get impounded for seven days. Whatever his reason for buying that car, it probably wasn’t to watch it sit an impound lot while he takes Uber.”
