Police zero in on suspect for Walmart threats

FILE PHOTO

KAMLOOPS - Police have a suspect after threats to harm people and property in Walmart earlier this week forced the evacuation of the store.

Kamloops RCMP found no signs of mischief or an actual exposive device in the store after it was evacuated Nov. 13, but in a release this morning, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says that wasn't the end of the investigation.

"Kamloops RCMP have executed a search warrant at the home of a subject of interest in the Walmart threats," she said. "Numerous electronic devices were seized as part of the search warrant and the information stored on these devices will help police determine if this subject was involved in the threat."

Police haven't offered many details about the threat but an 'anonymous' post to a local Facebook group claimed a bomb was placed in the store and offered a phone number to set it off.

The investigation is ongoing.
