VERNON - An eviction notice led to police uncovering a large stash of stolen items and illicit drugs at a Vernon residence last weekend.

According to a press release, Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP attended a residence on the 1700 block of 33 Street on March 8 to keep the peace while renters were evicted from a home. The occupants were known to police, who took precautions during the eviction.

As the occupants moved out, police observed several drugs and items believed to be obtained through crime present at the scene.

Officers obtained a search warrant and returned to the residence on March 9. They seized brand new small appliances, tools that were suspected to be stolen, illicit drugs and a prohibited weapon.

The investigation is ongoing. The occupants, who were not identified in the release, could face stolen property, drug and weapon-related charges.
