KAMLOOPS - Police say initial reports that a man had been a victim of a hit and run on Fortune Drive were premature and there is no evidence to support a hit and run claim.
Cpl. Cheryl Bush says RCMP were called to assist with a possible hit and run just before noon. A 64-year-old man was transported to hospital in critical condition but his injuries, and the area he was found, do not indicate a vehicle was involved.
Bush says the initial calls came from witnesses as a hit and run but at this point it appears none of the witnesses actually saw a vehicle hit the man, who lives in the area of Fortune Drive and Evans Avenue where he was found. It is too early to say what caused him to be on the ground in that area, Bush says, but there is no evidence to support that a vehicle was involved.
He was wearing blue jeans, a dark jacket and brown runners and is described as being of Asian descent.
Police are asking anyone who may have information that could help in the investigation to call the detachment at (250)828-3000.
