Police looking for witnesses to Pioneer Park stabbing

KAMLOOPS - Police in Kamloops are looking for witnesses to a stabbing in Pioneer Park yesterday.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release officers were notified around 5:15 p.m. yesterday, July 12, of a man in hospital who had been stabbed numerous times.

Police investigated and found two men had been attacked at Pioneer Park earlier in the afternoon. The attacks are believed to be related to the drug trade, Shelkie says.

The victim had serious but non life-threatening injuries and the other victim was located and found to have minor injuries, Shelkie says.

Police say the suspects have not been located but they do not believe there is any risk to the general public as this was a targeted attack.

Police are asking anyone who saw the altercation to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
