WEST KELOWNA – RCMP are asking for the public’s help to find a missing 72-year-old West Kelowna man.

Police say David Lawrence Hamilton was last seen by his family on Sunday, March 25 at around noon.

Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says the last sighting of Hamilton was at approximately 3 p.m. later that day walking in the 2300 block of Butt Road in West Kelowna.

"Police are in the process of engaging both the RCMP Air Services Section and our partners with Central Okanagan Search and Rescue to assist with conducting both air and ground searches," O'Donaghey says in a media release. "Searchers will be focussing their efforts on routes that Mr. Hamilton is known to frequent most."

Hamilton, who goes by his middle name Lawrence, is an avid hiker and it isn’t unusual for him to walk long distances, RCMP say. He has a medical condition which requires him to take medication regularly, so police are concerned for his health and well-being.

Since he was reported missing, officers have followed up on several avenues of investigation and his disappearance has been shared with other RCMP detachments in the Okanagan.

RCMP describe Hamilton as a 72-year-old Caucasian man, 6'1" tall and 177 lbs. with grey hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark blue puffy jacket, blue jeans, a scarf and gloves.

Police have released a photo of Hamilton from video surveillance that shows his appearance at the time of his disappearance.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact their local police, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
