Police catch suspects in van stolen from Kelowna daycare
A man and a woman were arrested after they were spotted operating a van that was stolen from a Kelowna daycare two days earlier.
The pair, both well known to police, were arrested at around 3 a.m. Friday, April 21, according to an RCMP media release.
The man was driving and the woman was a passenger in a Ford Econovan that was reported stolen from a Rutland daycare. They were caught at a gas station near Highway 33 East.
The man was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and several court order breaches. He remains in custody and is due in court on May 8.
The woman, who has been released from custody, was charged with charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.
“This particular incident is disheartening as the vehicle operated by the suspects belongs to a daycare provider to transport children to various locations, and is now out of service for an extended period of time as a result of the damages the suspects caused to it," RCMP Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay said in the release.
