PENTICTON - Penticton and Summerland RCMP worked together to take a suspect into custody following a robbery involving a vehicle taken in Penticton.

Penticton RCMP were called to investigate a report of theft of a vehicle involving an assault on the owner on Aug. 26.

The accused, identified as David Case, was known to the victim and allegedly forced his way into the victim’s vehicle, assaulting him in the process.

Later that day police spotted the stolen vehicle heading towards Summerland on Highway 97. The driver continued driving down the highway at a high rate of speed in spite of police efforts to conduct a traffic stop.

Police did not pursue the suspect due to safety concerns.

Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in a press release issued today, Sept. 4, police then received information of a man camping out in a forested region in west Summerland on Sept. 2.

Police searched the area, eventually arresting Case. They found the stolen vehicle nearby.

Case was held in custody and presently faces charges of robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.
