PENTICTON - The Penticton Fire Department was called to a Penticton school this morning after a fire broke out in one of the school’s washrooms.

Fire Chief Larry Watkinson says firefighters responded to Princess Margaret School this morning after receiving a call of a fire in a school washroom's garbage can.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the washroom. The school was evacuated and closed for the remainder of the day due to smoky conditions in the building.

Watkinson says an investigation is pending.
