PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP have been reinforcing safety in school zones lately.
The detachment’s Community Safety and Enforcement Team were out in full force in the city’s school zones and downtown areas, police spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in a statement issued today, Jan. 17.
On Jan. 16, the team handed out 27 violation tickets for speeding within school zones.
“Subsequent to complaints from concerned parents about speeding within school zones, our team responded. Several drivers were found to be in excess of 20 km/hr in the 30 km zones,” Const. Grandy said.
The team is also focussing on being visible downtown to reduce speeding.
