Penticton RCMP return Alberta man on multiple outstanding warrants

An Alberta man wanted on 24 outstanding warrants is being returned to Alberta to face charges after being caught in Penticton.

PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP have apprehended a man wanted in Alberta for multiple outstanding warrants dating back to 2014.

The Community Support and Enforcement Team identified the 47-year-old man, who was currently residing in Penticton, while conducting routine patrols.

The man was wanted on 24 outstanding warrants from Alberta including some related to driving offences and failure to appear in court.

Police used the Provincial Fugitive Return Program to determine the man was wanted, and the Province of Alberta extended the jurisidiction of the warrants to B.C.

The man is returning to Alberta to face the charges, says Cpl. Ted Manchulenko of the RCMP.

The Fugitive Return Program is not new, but can be valuable in holding accused individuals in jurisdictions other than that in which the crimes were committed.
