Penticton Mounties catch Alberta drug trafficker

Penticton RCMP arrested an Alberta man on drug charges after pulling a vehicle over and conducting a search.

The discovery of cocaine and cash led to the arrest of 26-year-old Joshua Oudshoorn and a 28-year-old woman in the vehicle, and the search of two Penticton homes the following day.

The car was pulled over in a downtown convenience store parking lot. Oudshoorn was initially arrested for breaching his recognizance of bail conditions from Alberta and the woman for possession of a controlled substance. A small amount of marijuana was seized from the vehicle.

After Oudshoorn's arrest, police executed search warrants January 31 at two homes. Cash and cocaine were found in the 600 block of Beames Lane and a larger quantify of cocaine, oxycontin pills and a small quantify of what is believed to be heroin at a residence in the 200 block of Marina Way.

All together, approximately eight ounces of powder cocaine, several hundred oxycontin pills, cash scales and smaller quantities of heroin and marijuana were seized.

The woman was later released with no proposed charges. Oudshoorn was held in custody for a bail hearing and appeared in Penticton court today for two counts possession for the purpose of trafficking. He also faces cocaine related charges from Medicine Hat and is on bail conditions with is current Calgary address.
