PENTICTON — The City of Penticton is considering its options regarding the Hotel Room Tax, after the current provider ceased discussions with the City to reconcile outstanding issues.
“We reached an agreement in principle with the Penticton Hospitality Association on Dec. 16 to resolve outstanding issues with the HRT funds, and were scheduled to meet again on Jan. 6 to continue discussions on creating a united tourism entity for Penticton. However, last Thursday, the PHA notified the City that they were withdrawing from discussions,” said Mayor Garry Litke.
“We are disappointed that the PHA did not meet with us on Jan. 6, as we understand the importance of resolving this matter for tourism stakeholders and the community at large.”
