Penticton date night includes stolen vehicle from Kamloops

PENTICTON - A man looking for a date with a Penticton woman wasn’t going to let a little thing like auto theft get in his way.

On Wednesday night, May 18, police attempted to stop a grey 2007 Toyota Corolla for driving with no lights while travelling north on Main Street at Eckhardt Avenue. The vehicle sped off and drove through the Main Street construction zone, crashing into a construction fence.

Members of the Penticton detachment’s prolific offenders task force watched the scene unfold, and then arrested the driver for possession of stolen property after it was discovered the vehicle had been stolen from a Kamloops address.

The driver admitted stealing the vehicle 'because he had to meet a girl in Penticton'.

He was subsequently released on a promise to appear at a later date.
