PENTICTON - A trend on Churchill Avenue to subdivide single-family residential properties and build duplexes continues in Penticton.
City council approved a proposal to amend the zoning bylaw for 657 Churchill Ave. at last night’s council meeting, April 3, following a public hearing on the matter.
A staff report to council noted the property was identified in the city’s Official Community Plan for potential infill and higher density residential development.
The applicant plans to demolish the existing house on the property, subdivide it and build a front to back duplex on each lot.
No financial implications to the city were identified by staff, which noted similar developments have occurred in the neighbourhood already.
Penticton City Counci gave second and third readings to a proposal to rezone 657 Churchill Avenue to allow construction of duplexes following a public hearing on the matter yesterday evening, April 4, 2018.
