LONGUEUIL, Que. - A man who allegedly threatened media magnate Pierre Karl Peladeau on Facebook has been charged with incitement to commit a criminal act.

Wesley Rigoberto Sosa Murillo appeared in court today and was then freed on various conditions.

Police say the 35-year-old man did not resist when he was arrested at his home on Tuesday evening in Chambly, south of Montreal.

A poster who identified himself on Sunday as Sosa El Gambino apologized on Twitter and to police via tweets.

The Facebook post in question reportedly began with the words, "‘Please someone shoot PKP" and was quickly removed.

Peladeau last week confirmed what many had been expecting — that he will seek the leadership of the Parti Quebecois.

Note to readers: This is a corrected story. A previous version said the suspect was expected to appear in court in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu
