Pedestrian struck by pickup crossing Vernon street

A 30-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing a street in an intersection this morning.

RCMP said the man was hit at around 8:30 a.m. today, July 16, in the intersection of 30 Avenue and 30 Street in Vernon.

The man was crossing 30 Street when he was hit by a pickup in the intersection, according to an RCMP media release, and transported by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP said the intersection would be closed for several hours as officer investigate.

“The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators,” Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said in the release. 

Anyone who witnessed the collision, and has not yet spoken to police, is asked to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171.
