Parking pinch coming to downtown

BCLC will not have access to about 100 parking stalls during renovations of the company parkade over the coming months.

KAMLOOPS - The BCLC parkade on Seymour Avenue is set to undergo $4 million in renovations over the coming months and that means about 100 vehicles normally parked there will likely be parked in the downtown core.

The parking deck is now 50-years-old and the parking deck slab needs to be updated on the third level. While short term work was completed in February a complete restoration is expected to begin this month.

The second and third levels of the parkade will be unavailable for staff use during the restoration but staff using those 100 parking stalls are being asked to park at off-site parking spaces nearby, though the upper level and uncovered parking on the second level will remain open to some staff, contractors and visitors.

The lotteries corporation is not sure on exact timelines right now but expects there will be a break during winter with work set to resume when the weather warms up.
