One driver, two drug seizures

A man is facing several charges after being found with drugs in two separate RCMP stops.

KAMLOOPS — A driver is facing several charges after drugs were found in the vehicle when he was  stopped in Barriere and again nine days later near McLure.

The 50-year-old Clearwater man was stopped on Jan. 17 in Barriere and the officer noted signs of impairment. A drug recognition expert concluded the driver was impaired by drugs and a search of the vehicle located 6.4 grams of cocaine, 102 grams of marijuana, some crack cocaine and 25 opioid pills.

At a road check on Highway 5 near McLure on Jan. 25 the same man was stopped and after the officer became suspicious a police dog was brought in to search the vehicle. In total 26 grams of cocaine was found along with some heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Charges of impaired driving and possession of a controlled substance are recommended for the first incident and the Jan. 25 stop has resulted in charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
