One dead in crash on Trans-Canada west of Kamloops
One person is dead in a two-vehicle crash Thursday on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Kamloops.
Emergency crews were called to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 near Savona around 11 a.m., Jan. 2, according to a press release from police.
One person died in the crash and three others have been taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
“Motorists are asked to please avoid the area and watch DriveBC for updates related to the closure,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
The highway is currently closed in both directions for 10 kilometres between Tunkwa Lake Road and Holloway Drive, according to DriveBC. There's a local detour but only for passenger vehicles.
RCMP said no more information is available at this time, but anyone who saw the crash or has related dash cam video is asked to contact Tk’emlúps RCMP at 250-314-1800.
