Okanagan weekend to start with sunshine and end with showers

Okanagan residents have two more days to soak up the sunshine and summer-like temperatures this week before a system moving into the valley brings moderating temperatures and showers on Sunday.

OKANAGAN - The Okanagan should see a warm and sunny start to the weekend, but an incoming weather system is expected to bring clouds, showers and cooler temperatures by Sunday.

Environment Canada says to expect mainly sunny conditions today, Sept. 5, with the daytime high reaching 30 Celsius. The wind is expected to become north at 20 km/h near noon, followed by a few clouds and a low of 14 C overnight.

The sun should continue into tomorrow with a high of 30 C and a low of 14 C.

On Saturday, a sun and cloud mix will be accompanied by a high of 29 C. Clouds are expected overnight with a low of 17 C.

Showers are in the forecast for Sunday with a high of 23 C and a low of 11 C.

Cloudy conditions are expected to prevail through Monday with a high of 24 C. There’s a 60 per cent chance of showers in the forecast for Monday night along with a low of 12 C.

Tuesday should see a 60 per cent chance of showers under cloudy skies and a high of 21 C.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 24 C and lows of 9 C.
