PENTICTON - Okanagan residents can look forward to a simple forecast this weekend: hot and sunny.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says temperature records could fall in Penticton on Saturday with a forecast high of 30 Celsius.

The old record for May 11 was 30.3 C set in 2013, Sekhon says.

The high pressure ridge over the Okanagan is expected to weaken by Sunday night, bringing a possibility of showers and unsettled conditions next week.

Today, May 10, sunny skies should prevail with a high of 30 C. It should be clear tonight with a low of 11 C.

On Saturday look for temperatures to reach as high as 30 C under sunny skies with winds becoming south at 20 km/h in the afternoon. It should cool down overnight to a low of 13 C.

On Sunday the forecast is for more sunshine and a slightly cooler high of 28 C, with an overnight low of 12 C. There is a 30 per cent chance of showers on Sunday night.

It should start to cool down for the start of the work week, with a high of 22 C under a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers on Monday.

Normal temperatures for this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of around 20 C and lows of about 6 C.
