New exhibit chronicles New Yorkers in Korean, Vietnam wars

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The New York State Military Museum is set to formally open a new exhibit on the Korean and Vietnam wars.

The new permanent exhibit — "Hot Spots in the Cold War" — officially opens with a public event Saturday evening at the museum in Saratoga Springs. The exhibit covers the period from 1950 through 1975 and commemorates the wars through the experiences of veterans from New York state.

Several local veterans have contributed items to the exhibit, including combat uniforms and gear, along with photographs and oral histories.

Friday is National Vietnam War Veterans Day, which honours the men and women who served in the U.S. armed forces from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975.
