NEW YORK - A Manhattan auction will feature the guitars, song notebooks and memorabilia of the late Texas blues legend Johnny Winter.
Guernsey's auction house says features of the sale , on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, include five uniquely shaped Gibson Firebirds. Winter got one of them from Muddy Waters.
Another lot includes a simple ukulele. Family photos show Winter with the instrument at around age 10.
Organizers say fans can bid on jewelry, scarves and hats — "sweat stains and all." There's even a clump of his beard.
The memorabilia also includes "extremely rare" rock and blues posters and vintage photos.
The collection is being sold for Winter's family.
The auction will be held at the Gibson Brands New York Showroom. Internet bidding also will be offered.
