North Okanagan curler Ina Forrest is taking home a bronze medal, as the Canadian paralympic team lands on the podium for the fifth time in a row.

The Canadian team lost to China in the semifinal, but pulled together and beat Slovakia with a score of 8-3 to take the third place spot at the Beijing Paralympic Games.

Forrest is joined by four wheelchair curlers on the Canadian team, including Dennis Thiessen, Jon Thurston, Collinda Joseph and skip, Mark Ideson.

“Everyone showed up to play today,” Ideson said in a Curling Canada news release. “Jon made a couple of beauties to finish it off. We’re so happy to win the bronze.”

While the Canadian wheelchair curling team adds a podium placement for the fifth time in as many paralympic games, it's also not the first medal for Forrest.

The Spallumcheen athlete won gold competing at the Vancouver 2010 games and has been described as one of the world’s most decorated wheelchair curlers.

“The Paralympics are the goal you set and strive for during the quadrennial,” Forrest said in the lead up to the games. “Being at the Paralympics means being part of the whole Team Canada, meeting other Canadian athletes, and cheering them on. Every experience is different, but each is utterly amazing.”

The gold medal game match up is set to start on March 12, with China taking on Sweden. China is coming off a 9-5 win against Team Canada, and Sweden beat out the Slovaks 6-4.
