No, the Rudolph bus in Kamloops wasn't taken off the road due to complaints

The Rudolph bus in Kamloops is still taking passengers across the city.

KAMLOOPS - A Facebook post suggesting the Christmas-themed B.C. Transit bus in Kamloops was pulled off the road due to a complaint, is not true.

The post was shared to multiple Kamloops-based Facebook groups, stating that B.C. Transit asked Kamloops to pull the bus because someone complained. The false information suggests it was pulled briefly before being put back on the road, "complete with red nose".

Someone did indeed complain informally and B.C. Transit spokesperson Jonathon Dyck says the company followed usual protocols but took no action.

"We are aware of the concern posted on Facebook... and, as we do with all complaints, did follow-up internally about the comments in the posting," he says. "The decorated buses continue to operate."

Dyck says B.C. Transit participates in several different activities throughout the year including dressing up buses in Victoria with mustaches during November, participating in the Vaisakhi Parade in Kelowna, and providing holiday lights tours.

"B.C. Transit recognizes our passengers are diverse and have different beliefs, and we want to celebrate the diversity of our riders," Dyck says. "If a community group has a celebration they would like transit to be part of, we encourage them to contact their local transit office."
