No one home at early morning Kelowna house fire

KELOWNA – Heavy smoke and flames coming from a single family home kept firefighters busy early this morning.

Platoon Capt. Kelly Stephens says in a media release firefighters arrived on Sutherland Avenue around 1 a.m., March 23, to find flames and thick, black smoke coming from the rear of a house.

“The fire was quickly extinguished but not before causing considerable damage to the residence,” Stephens says.

No one was home at the time.

The cause of the fire is being determined and will be investigated by Kelowna Fire and RCMP fire investigators.
