VERNON - The City of Vernon has hired a tourism industry specialist to take on the role of Tourism Manager starting Nov. 3.

Ange Chew comes to the city from Vancouver with 20 years marketing experience within multiple industries and tourism-based organizations specializing in tourism and partnership marketing. Her experience includes marketing jobs with Tourism Richmond, Intrawest and Bellstar Hotels & Resorts where she held the position of Director of Marketing.

“I am passionate about local food and travel experiences,” Chew said in a media release. “This role at Tourism Vernon offered me a chance to combine my love of B.C., wines, local produce and experiential travel experiences—skiing and snowboarding, water sports, hiking, fishing and so much more—by promoting a vibrant and multi-faceted city and region to the world.”

Chew said she's hoping to leverage her relationships and experiences with regional, federal and provincial tourism associations, stakeholders and partners to raise awareness, promote and drive visitation to Vernon, but not just from B.C. and Alberta, but regions across Canada and the world.
