KAMLOOPS - Tourism Kamloops was welcomed Patrick O'Donovan as the new sport tourism coordinator effective July 2. Patrick has a keen interest for sports in Kamloops and has been actively involved in the local sporting community, most specifically as a long time curling enthusiast.
Patrick will work closely with the City of Kamloops’ Tournament Capital team and the Kamloops Sports Council to support sporting events scheduled in Kamloops and will take an active role in supporting sport hosting bids for future events. Patrick will also assist in connecting Tourism Kamloops with local, provincial and national sport organizing associations and will engage with the Kamloops accommodators to maximize benefits from overall sport tourism opportunities.
The City of Kamloops continues to be a leader within Canada in the sport tourism industry and has proven success in delivering an exceptional sport tourism experience. As one of the fastest emerging sectors in the country, it is important that Tourism Kamloops continues to develop sport tourism in Kamloops. Tourism Kamloops looks forward to supporting the hosting efforts for the BC Seniors Games in August and the 2014 Tim Horton’s Brier in March.
