While Covid 19 is doing terrible work, closing many restaurants on the Vancouver food scene, there are still signs of new life popping up.

Juanita in the city’s cool Kitsilano neighbourhood is about to open its doors. The chef/owner is Jane Copeland of North Vancouver’s super popular Lift Breakfast Bakery.

Jane has an extraordinary culinary history that includes a spell at three-Michelin-star El Bulli restaurant in Spain. It was there that she was given the nickname Juanita, the namesake of her new digs. Jane also spent time at the storied Arzak in San Sebastián, Spain and early days at The Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino. Her focus here will be breakfast and classic everyday food made in her elevated style.

The former Blue Martini space offers indoor seating for 150 and patio seating for about 12. It will be open all day, offering delicious dishes like handmade pasta and traditional Spanish small plates (yay!) on the post brekkie menu.
