KAMLOOPS - After receiving several tips from the public, Kamloops RCMP have arrested a man suspected of stealing an elderly Australian woman's purse last week.

Kamloops RCMP release still shots of the suspect from surveillance footage earlier today, Sept. 13.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says numerous tips from the public came in, many of them identifying the man in the photographs.

She says the 37-year-old Kamloops man was located and arrested today. Shelkie says he was previously known to police.

The man was arrested in connection to a purse-snatching involving an elderly Australian tourist who was walking near 3 Avenue and Lansdowne Street around 7:25 p.m. on Sept. 7.

Police say the woman walked away uninjured but shaken up. A bystander attempted to chase the alleged robber but couldn't catch him.
