VERNON - A new Sheraton hotel project is working it’s way through Vernon city hall.

Proposed for 5400 Anderson Way, the Four Points by Sheraton hotel and conference centre building application is in the City's hands now, and is part of a busy first quarter of 2017 for the Vernon construction sector, according to a media release.

After a strong 2016, the trend is continuing into 2017 with $24.3 million in permits so far.

Other projects moving through city administration include the second icesheet at Kal Tire Place and a redevelopment of the 3300 31 Avenue site downtown, formerly a Legion.

Vernon economic development manager Kevin Poole says the residential sector is also strong.

"Single family residential construction continues to show solid activity with 42 permits issued with a corresponding building permit value of $15.3 million,” he says in the release.
