New brew pub set to expand Kelowna's brewery district
An application for a liquor manufacturing licence by Buffalo Rouge Brewing Co. could expand Kelowna’s North End brewery district further east.
The brewery district is centred around Richter Street and Vaughn Avenue but reaches as far east as Welton Arms Craft Beer and Restaurant at 890 Clement Ave.
The Buffalo Rouge proposal is for a commercial building at 1111 Gordon Drive, near the foot of Knox Mountain and, according to Goggle Maps, an eight-minute walk from Welton Arms.
“The establishment will have a full time kitchen offering a full menu, from snacks and appetizers, to entrees and desserts,” states a letter from Liam Mitchell accompanying the application for the licence. “Weekends will include a brunch service starting at 11a.m.”
The other days will have 4 p.m. openings and the application is to stay open until 11 p.m. every night.
“We are directly neighboured by two long standing automotive shops, and a tattoo parlour that is about to open,” Mitchell wrote. “Thankfully noise concerns should be minimal as it is not a residential area and the majority of the neighbouring businesses are closed in the evening.”
Drawings show a maximum of 48 people in the brewery, including staff.
“There is a stand up piano that will be available for customer use, within reason,” Mitchell wrote. "We plan on cultivating relationships with our customers to instil a relaxed and respectful environment to ensure everyone assists us in being good neighbours."
