NDP MP slammed after 9/11 conspiracy theorist's event appears on website

OTTAWA - An NDP MP is coming under fire for allowing her website to publicize a speech given by a 9/11 conspiracy theorist.

Megan Leslie's events page includes a listing for San Francisco architect Richard Gage's presentation on Mar. 31 in Halifax, part of a cross-Canada tour.

Gage founded the group Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, whose central thesis is that it was a controlled demolition that felled the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001, not the hijacked airliners that struck the buildings.

Gage does not blame any specific group for the catastrophe, but challenges others to find out the truth.

Conservative MP James Bezan accused Leslie of championing Gage's cause, and called the tour shameful and disrespectful to the victims of 9/11.

Leslie says she allows people in her riding to post events on the website as a community service, and she doesn't police the content unless the subject matter is illegal or hateful.
