The Latest: 2 possible cold weather deaths investigated

BISMARCK, N.D. - The Latest on record-setting cold in some parts of the Upper Midwest (all times local):

11 a.m.

Authorities are investigating possible cold weather deaths in North Dakota and Wisconsin.

In North Dakota, the Cavalier County Sheriff's Office says a 23-year-old Grand Forks man reported missing was found dead in Langdon this past weekend. Authorities say Conner Sander was in town to referee the North Dakota Junior Gold Hockey Tournament and didn't show up for his game at the Dakota Spirit Arena. Authorities believe Sander was walking from the Langdon Motor Inn to the Cobblestone Inn, got confused and cold overnight Friday when it was minus 10 degrees (24 below Celsius).

In Wisconsin, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office planned an autopsy Monday on the body of a man found frozen in a vehicle Sunday. Authorities say the man was apparently homeless and was found in an abandoned vehicle on Milwaukee's north side.

Record low temperatures were set in some Wisconsin cities early Monday. The temperature dropped to 14 below (minus 25 Celsius) in Oshkosh, smashing the old record for the day of 9 below (minus 22 Celsius) below set in 1917. In Manitowoc, a new record of 11 below (minus 24 Celsius) was set, breaking the old record of minus 10 (24 below Celsius) set in 1884.
