Travel alert issued for much of North Dakota due to snow

BISMARCK, N.D. - Much of North Dakota is under a travel alert due to snow and blowing snow.

Officials on Sunday issued the travel alert for northern and southwestern North Dakota. The snow and blowing snow is making roads slippery and reducing visibility. Cities in the alert include Williston, Minot, Devils Lake and Grand Forks.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of the northern two-thirds of North Dakota until noon Monday. The warning area is along and north of Interstate 94.

Heavy snow is expected, with some areas getting up to 10 inches (25 centimetres). Winds gusting up to 35 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow. Wind chills could drop as low as minus 35 (minus 37 Celsius).
