Music in the Park Attendance Nearly Doubles

The popularity of West Kelowna’s Music in the Park concert series continues to grow with 520 people taking in the first concert of the 2013 season on Friday, July 5 at Memorial Park. That compares to attendance of 300 for the inaugural concert in 2012.

The lineup for the July 12 Music in the Park, includes West Kelowna’s own Make Me Smile, a tribute band to the classic rock group Chicago. The evening’s schedule includes:

Talented Kid: 6:45 p.m. - Shadow (shock illusionist)
Opening Act: 7:15 p.m. - Jimmy LeGuilloux
Headline Act: 8:15 p.m. – Make Me Smile, The Ultimate Chicago Tribute
Free, family friendly concerts take place every Friday night from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. through August 30 at Memorial Park, adjacent to Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre. Music lovers will enjoy a variety of genres including country, pop, classical, and more! West Kelowna Recreation staff will be in the park hosting games and activities for the kids. A food vendor will also be operating on site this year, offering hot food, sandwiches and cool summer treats.

Part of the community connection will happen through Facebook. Join the conversation through the Facebook link on the District of West Kelowna homepage at districtofwestkelowna.ca. Music in the Park will also be featured under Events & Meetings on the District of West Kelowna homepage throughout the summer.

Music in the Park is produced and promoted by Creative Okanagan. The District of West Kelowna would like to thank the 2013 Music in the Park media partners Country 100.7, K96.3, Westside Weekly, Shaw TV and Castanet.
