UPDATE: Highway south of Lillooet to reopen after mudslide

A mudslide has closed Hwy 12 south of Lillooet this morning.

THOMPSON-NICOLA - A mudslide south of Lillooet closed Highway 12 in both directions early this morning but Drive B.C. is now saying the road should be reopend later today.

The slide occurred about 20 km south of the the junction with Highway 99 and has closed both directions until sometime between 4-6 p.m. A geotechnical assessment took place this morning and crews are working to clear the highway of debris.

No detours are available but alternate routes are available via Highway 1, Highway 97 and Highway 99.
