PENTICTON — An Apex chair lift caught fire today marking a second unfortunate event on the hills of Okanagan mountains this winter.

Skiers posted photos on social media of smoke exiting the window of the Triple chairlift hut. The cause of fire has not yet been determined.

Apex General Manager James Shalman said, everyone was evacuated from the lift and hill without injury. There were no issues putting out the fire.

Earlier this winter there was a chairlift crash at Crystal Mountain in West Kelowna, which resulted in the mountain being closed indefinitely.
