BEIRUT - Lebanon's prime minister has returned to Beirut from Paris where he underwent a heart procedure.

Saad Hariri's office said the 48-year-old premier returned late Thursday but is not expected to carry out official functions until next week.

Hariri on Monday underwent an hour-long procedure to install a stent. He was discharged on the same day from the hospital in Paris where he has a home.

Hariri is the youngest head of state in the region, and has been Lebanon's prime minister for three separate periods since 2009. He is now presiding over his third Cabinet after being named premier again in February.

Members of his party have represented him in social functions but the Cabinet's Thursday weekly meeting and some sessions in Parliament were postponed until his return.
