KAMLOOPS - Last night was a long night for search and rescue members from around the Interior.

A media release says it will likely be the first of many this year. Kamloops Search and Rescue and other searchers from around the Interior were called to the Look Lake area yesterday evening, Saturday, Jun 2.

A mushroom picker from out of province was reported missing earlier that day. Searchers were joined by volunteers from South Cariboo and Nicola Vally search and rescue teams including police dog services and a drone team from Hummingbird Drones.

The police dog team located the tired and hungry man around 7 a.m. this morning.

Following the fires throughout the area last year, KSAR is concerned this will be the first of many calls for missing mushroom pickers this year.

People from all over North America are expected to come to the Interior for what is supposed to be a huge mushroom picking season.

Foragers are reminded to research the area they are heading to, be prepared with at least the 10 essentials including a way to communicate. Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return, and leave a trip plan with someone you trust.
