Minivan driver flees after hitting Kelowna cyclist
Kelowna RCMP are looking for the driver of a white minivan after it struck a cyclist on Sunday.
The cyclist was riding his bike on the 2100 block of Enterprise Way around noon, July 16, when he was hit by a Ford Freestar minivan, according to an RCMP media release.
He was seriously injured and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver stopped and got out his vehicle and spoke to witnesses before jumping back into the van and driving away before police arrived.
The minivan was last seen heading westbound, where the driver failed to stop for a red light at Harvey Avenue and Spall Road.
A witness gave police their dashcam footage, but investigators are unable to make out the license plate number, so are looking to the public for help.
The Ford van is described as a mid to late-2000s model Freestar with a white roof rack. It has a large dent on the bumper below the passenger side headlight and peeling paint on its license plates.
Police described the suspect as a Caucasian male in his 20s.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage can reach out to Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference the file number 2023-40825. If you would like to remain anonymous, witnesses can contact the Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
