Panel discussion on supercarriers coming to Ford museum

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A panel discussion on U.S. supercarriers will be held at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.

Tuesday's program will feature the documentary "Building Integrity, Building Ford," which looks at the technology used in the newest class of aircraft carriers.

The USS Gerald R. Ford was commissioned last year and is the first of the new Ford class of aircraft carrier. At $13 billion, the carrier is the Navy's most expensive warship. The USS John F. Kennedy is in production and scheduled for commissioning in 2024.

Officials from Newport News Shipbuilders will join Susan Ford Bales for the panel discussion. Ford Bales is the daughter of the late President Gerald R. Ford.
