A large quantify of drugs and cash were seized by RCMP thanks to a tip and a traffic stop yesterday.

A member of the Central Okanagan Traffic Services received the tip from another officer that a man who was prohibited from driving was heading north on Harvey Ave. When police saw the Ford F150 turning left on Hwy. 33 they initiated a traffic stop once registration of the truck was confirmed.

The officer pulled the truck over in the Wendy's parking lot on Hwy. 33 and after smelling marijuana coming from the cab, arrested a 25-year-old man and 32-year-old man, both from Trail, B.C. for possession of a controlled substance.

A search of the truck revealed 7.3 lbs of marijuana and more than $7,000 cash. The vehicle was impounded and police seized the cash and drugs.

The owner of the vehicle, (25-year-old man), faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Driving While Prohibited. He has been released for court at a later date. It is unknown at this time if charges will be recommended against the second man.
