Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (15,074.13, up 60.04 points):

Carpathian Gold Inc. (TSX:CPN). Miner. Down half-a-cent, or 20 per cent, to two cents on 7.9 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Down one cent, or 0.39 per cent, to $2.57 on 4.5 million shares.

Toronto-Dominion Bank (TSX:TD). Bank. Up five cents, or 0.09 per cent, to $54.20 on 3.6 million shares.

Merus Labs International Inc. (TSX:MSL). Health care. Up 25 cents, or 8.59 per cent, to $3.16 on 3.5 million shares.

Bank of Nova Scotia (TSX:BNS). Bank. Up 48 cents, or 0.73 per cent, to $65.88 on 3.4 million shares.

Legacy Oil + Gas Inc. (TSX:LEG). Oil and gas. Unchanged at $2.63 on 3.3 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Wireless communications. Down 29 cents, or 2.38 per cent, to $11.92 on 1.7 million shares. The Waterloo, Ont., smartphone maker said Monday that it reached a patent infringement settlement with Typo, a maker of iPhone keyboards co-founded by "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest. BlackBerry had accused Typo of ripping off its design. Under the agreement, Typo Products LLC will be banned from selling keyboards for mobile devices with a screen size that's less than 7.9 inches, essentially knocking them out of the iPhone market.

Saputo Inc. (TSX:SAP). Up two cents, or 0.06 per cent, to $33.85 on 242,759 shares. The Canadian dairy giant wants farmers around the world to commit in writing to treat animals humanely, vowing to refuse milk from any that fail to do so. The change is part of the new animal welfare policy released Monday by one of the world's largest dairy processors.
