Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,595.50, down 15.08 points):

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 17 cents, or 3.39 per cent, to $4.84 on 10.8-million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 14 cents, or 2.94 per cent, to $4.63 on 8.2-million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 31 cents, or 2.15 per cent, to $14.11 on 8.2-million shares.

Canopy Growth Corp. (TSX:CGC). Drug manufacturer. Down nine cents, or 1.81 per cent, to $4.89 on 7.7-million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Down six cents, or 1.02 per cent, to $5.81 on seven-million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 10 cents, or 3.31 per cent, to $2.92 on 6.6-million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Wireless communications. Up 40 cents, or 3.96 per cent, to $10.50 on 1.1-million shares. One of BlackBerry's top sales executives says the company will release a new smartphone with its distinctive physical keyboard within six months. The comment was made in a BBC video interview published Wednesday, a week after the Canadian smartphone pioneer announced it would stop doing hardware development in-house.
