Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,053.74, up 100.89 points):

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up three cents, or 0.53 per cent, to $5.74 on 10 million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up 28 cents, or 4.64 per cent, to $6.32 on 7.2 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Down two cents, or 0.99 per cent, to $2 on 6.7 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up seven cents, or 1.25 per cent, to $5.69 on 6.3 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Up 26 cents, or 1.17 per cent, to $22.50 on 6.2 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 10 cents, or 4.13 per cent, to $2.52 on 6.1 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Bank of Montreal (TSX:BMO). Bank. Up $1.04, or 1.25 per cent, to $84.27 on 1.6 million shares. The Bank of Montreal says it is cutting its workforce by about 1,850 positions as consumers shift more of their banking online and technological advancements allow it to digitize some of its processes. There were 46,166 full-time equivalent employees at the bank as of the second quarter, a decline of 616 employees from the previous quarter. The lender says it will trim its head count by an additional four per cent, which amounts to roughly 1,846 positions.
