KAMLOOPS - Padlock Studios is excited to announce the opening of a new solo exhibition titled, Manipulations featuring local photographic artist Kelsey Gwynne.

Manipulations will run from April 30 to May 30, 2016, with the opening reception on April 30, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

In this series, ordinary objects and sites transform into surreal and imaginative entities. Kelsey chooses seemingly insignificant subject matter for her photographs, and then manipulates and layers them to create imaginary scenes and situations. Kelsey explores and plays with spatial orienting, gravity, human forms, weather elements, and light in her photos.  She creates images that are hauntingly beautiful and serene; yet can elicit a certain tension with underlying angst or desolation. Manipulations leaves the viewer with realistic visions of imaginative and impossible scenarios in our world.

Padlock Studios and artist collective is a new not for profit gallery and exhibition space that also provides private and communal working studios for artists in downtown Kamloops.  Their vision is to provide a productive working environment and exhibition space that can ignite and inspire the new generation of artists in Kamloops.

Manipulations exhibit will run through May 30, 2016. The artist, Kelsey Gwynne, will be present at the opening reception Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Gallery hours during the show are Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and other times by appointment. They are located on the first floor of 175 2 Ave, Kamloops.
