PENTICTON - Police are on the hunt for the man who robbed a Penticton gas station early this morning.

RCMP say no one was hurt, but the suspect did escape in a stolen red Honda Civic.

At approximately 5:54 a.m. today, Jan. 26, the employee at the Shell gas station located on Fairview Road in Penticton called 911 to report the robbery, according to a RCMP media release.

Police say a man with a knife walked into the gas station. His face was covered by a white cloth. The suspect jumped over the counter, took the cash drawer and fled in an older red car that investigators think had been recently reported stolen from the Penticton Recreation Centre.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man about 5'5" tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a three-quarter length jacket, black jeans and a black toque with a white stripe.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man responsible for this robbery. If you have any information, please contact Cst. Trina Rae at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
