Man with 13 warrants falls asleep at West Kelowna business; Mounties wake him up

WEST KELOWNA - What a rough way to start your day.

Kelowna RCMP spokesman Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a press release they have arrested a man with am armful of warrants who feel asleep on the property of a local business this morning.

Police say they were called to a business in the 1500 block of Stephens Road in West Kelowna this morning, Jan. 11, after employees found a man sleeping in his vehicle on the grounds.

While they initially thought the 34-year-old Kelowna man had been trying to break into the business, O’Donaghey says it was discovered the man had been a customer of the business the day before and had fallen asleep inside a vehicle.

Subsequent investigation showed that while he was not breaking into the business, he did have 13 outstand warrants including failure to appear in court and possession of a controlled substance.

The man has been held in police custody pending court appearance.
